Job description: BRIGHT Photonics is seeking a talented, independent and hands-on PIC Test & Automation Engineer with a mechanical engineering background to join our growing photonics team. Your mission? Develop and automate our testing infrastructure for advanced photonic integrated circuits, enabling scalable and precise performance validation.Job type: Full TimeSalary: Competitive salary commensurate with experienceLocation: Eindhoven, the NetherlandsKey responsibilities:- Develop and maintain automated test stations for PIC characterization.- Design mechanical tooling for high-precision optical probe alignment.- Implement vision recognition systems to optimize test workflows.- Program robust automation scripts and GUIs in Python and leverage open-source modules.- Collaborate with PIC designers and packaging engineers to define test criteria.- Analyze measurement data to extract meaningful performance metrics.Key qualifications:- M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation or related field.- Proven hands-on experience in photonic or semiconductor test automation.- Solid programming skills in Python.- Familiarity with open-source instrumentation and control frameworks.- Experience with vision-based alignment or image recognition systems.- Deep understanding of fiber alignment, wafer-level PIC probing, or optical interfacing.- Creative problem solver with a maker mindset.Additional Assets:- Experience in high-throughput or wafer-level photonics testing.- Exposure to packaging processes or cleanroom environments.- Contributions to open-source automation or measurement libraries.What do we offer?- Work on cutting-edge photonic technologies.- Lab access for prototyping and testing.- Challenging problems requiring out-of-the box thinking.- Work in an exciting, international environment.- Work alongside other experienced photonic designers.- Develop your own skills and contribute to company growth.- A competitive salary and flexible working hours.- Opportunities for upskilling and attending international conferences.Contact: hr@brightphotonics.eu.
