Job description: BRIGHT Photonics seeks a senior photonics engineer for commercial and R&D projects in telecom, datacom, sensing, microwave photonics, and biophotonics. Design photonic components/devices on Si, InP, SiN, PLC; characterize fabricated components and circuits; engage with customers on PIC design support and specifications; improve design flow, in‑house tools, and compact models; contribute to project definition and management. Senior level with 2+ years industrial experience. Job type: Full Time. Salary: Competitive salary commensurate with experience. Location: Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Key responsibilities: Design active/passive photonic components and devices; design/simulation/layout of PICs; develop new design approaches and improve design flow/in‑house tooling; interact with technology providers and customers. Key qualifications: M.Sc./Ph.D. in EE/Physics/Applied Physics/Optics/Photonics or similar; strong physics (optics/electromagnetism); knowledge of fiber communication/fiber optics/integrated photonics; experience designing/modeling/layout/characterization of PICs and opto‑electronic devices (lasers, photodetectors, modulators); computational design methods (EM, BPM, FDTD); excellent English communication; programming in Python or C/C++; independent, proactive, accurate, able to work under deadlines.
