About the position
EFFECT Photonics is looking for an experienced – Reliability Engineer - R&D (Eindhoven, The Netherlands).
We are seeking an experienced engineer with knowledge of reliability testing, to join our Validation & Reliability team within our world class R&D department in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. You will be responsible for the execution of reliability testing, data interpretation and follow up. But also provide input on product level reliability strategies, in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders.
Not only will you run reliability testing on PIC and integrated (sub)module level but also contribute to the overall reliability and testing strategy. This requires a full understanding of photonic devices that make use of our EFFECT Photonic’s Integrated Circuits and Integrated Tuneable Lasers (ITLA’s). But also, of industry reliability standards, like Telcordia and ISO, etc. With the ideal candidate also having experience initiating improvements based on reliability results. Our validation and reliability framework relies on fully automated test scripts, so proficiency with standard software languages, is a big advantage. The focus of the role will be on reliability activities. But other lab related activities can be relevant also, to support team members, or when relevant deep dives are needed.
The responsibility of EFFECT Photonic’s Validation & Reliability team is to validate and qualify the newest PIC designs as well as full products. This in close collaboration with the PIC Design, Foundry and Product Development teams. These critical results drive future product development. Our multi-disciplinary team is comprised of experts in optics, electronics, mechanics, software, reliability and validation. The ideal candidate has experience testing integrated photonics components for the telecom sector. But experience with (reliability) testing of microchips or other high-tech modules in general, can bring interesting new insights to the table. Furthermore, experience with creating and executing reliability strategies according to industry standards is a big advantage in this role.
Required / Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities
MSc in Electrical engineering, Photonics or similar.
At least 5 years experience as test, validation or reliability engineer.
Good understanding of industry quality standards.
Experience with Qualification and Reliability methodologies.
Good understanding of integrated PIC technology and wafer foundry technologies.
Experience in test activities (laser physics, electro-optical testing).
Experience in development and use of (automated) lab equipment.
Strong analytic and data analysis skills with Excel, JMP or similar.
Experience with statistical methodologies like 6-sigma.
Preferably 3-5 year of experience in script development in either Python or C++.
Hands on and proactive attitude.
Likes to work in the labs with high-tech equipment (not only a desk job).
Coordination with other teams and suppliers.
Develop product reliability strategies in accordance with industry standards (Telcordia).
Perform reliability and validation testing on Building Block, PIC and integrated full circuit designs.
Report out on results via standardized reporting and update meetings.
Develop new testing capabilities based on the existing framework, in a team effort.
Define and develop automation test scripts (C++ and Python).
Participate in or lead RCA’s.
