Internship
Mantispectra
Test Engineer (Electro-Optical Systems & Data Analysis)
Flexible scope covering semiconductor and system-level testing, characterization, and data acquisition (DAQ).
Assignment Description
Are you a hands-on engineering student who enjoys combining hardware, data, and intelligent algorithms?
In this assignment, you will:
-
Build and test electro-optical devices involving spectral sensors, lasers, and LEDs
-
Design and 3D-print custom opto-mechanical components
-
Collect large datasets from real material samples (solids, liquids, powders, etc.)
-
Develop AI and Machine Learning models (Python, MATLAB, or similar) to analyze spectral data and predict material composition
This is a highly practical assignment for creative technical problem-solvers who enjoy working at the intersection of photonics, hardware development, and data-driven innovation.
Start Date
Preferably no later than June 2026 (mid-May 2026 is possible).
Duration
-
Ideally 6–8 months or longer
-
Minimum duration: 4 months
-
Full-time preferred
-
Part-time possible (minimum 20 hours per week)
Number of Students
-
For data collection and application-focused tasks: up to 4 students can collaborate
-
For opto-mechanical design and testing: typically up to 2 students per topic
-
Tasks can be divided across measurement, data analysis, and modelling activities
