This is how you make impact as a Category Buyer

As a Category Buyer, you are responsible for Quality, Logistis, Cost and Innovation in your category by taking commercial actions and managing the the relationships with suppliers within your category (PCBA, Components, Mechanics). You search for, evaluate, and collaborate with suppliers for goods and services based on business needs, focusing on maximizing production efficiency, achieving business goalsand minimizing ownership costs. You responsibility spans from beginning to end of the procurement process. From working with the Category Managers on the category strategy till steering the operational buyers on the execution of the strategy. You work within multidisciplinary teams (Procurement, Engineering and Quality) to achieve our objectives, from the initial selection and purchasing in the phase-in or projects to the reevaluation of the existing portfolio.

Your daily responsibilities include

Based on your knowledge and experience, you know how to further develop suppliers in terms of quality, technology, logistics, and costs (QLTC). In addition to topics such as optimizing our supplier base and focusing on performance, you will be challenged with logistical arrangements with suppliers and further supply chain optimizations. As a Category Buyer, you are also the first escalation level from operations and jointly responsible for the purchasing parameters in the ERP system.

  • Co-own the supply base in your category, optimize the supply base based on business requirements and spend development associated with a fast growing company
  • Proactively working on continuous improvement of performance and taking a leading role in relevant improvement processes
  • Initiating and executing tenders, negotiation and contracting projects aimed at reducing Total Cost of Ownership and increasing material availability
  • Contributing to the development of the procurement policy and guiding renewal processes
  • Visiting suppliers, making (improvement) agreements, and conducting negotiations
  • Setting up ordering parameters to ensure optimal material availability
  • Holding and following up on business reviews with your key suppliers to drive supplier performance
  • Representing the procurement discipline in multidisciplinary project teams
  • Providing functional leadership and guidance to the operational buyer(s) within the category

In this job you will play an important role in in strengthening our supply chain. To do so, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor working and thinking level, preferably you hold a relevant degree in procurement (e.g. NEVI)
  • Minimum three till five years of proven relevant experience in procurement
  • Good at building relations and strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong process understanding of the supply chain, ideally in electronics manufacturingand assembly
  • Ability to turn vision and ambition in clear and concise results
  • Excellent level of verbal and written communicative skills in English. Dutch is desirable
