Become part of the team that is defining our next generation radar products. Governments are encouraging car manufacturers to improve the safety of cars for the drivers and other road users. So called New Car Assessment Programs, NCAP, define a set of traffic scenarios and accident prevention metrics. The scores of these tests are an important decision factor for consumers. Recently, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, NHTSA, has announced that passing these tests will be compulsory soon. In your role you will analyze the traffic scenarios, make a model from them and derive the sensing requirements of the sensor. Your findings will help to define the next generation radar.

Your Team

The product line radar architecture team is truly a diverse team of experts from the fields of signal processing, AI, RF and digital architectures. Together we define the requirements for next generation radars. In the fast-moving world of Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) and self-driving cars it is paramount to understand the challenges our customers face on the road. We are currently looking for a student for a 3 to 6-month internship to develop radar sensor requirements that support existing and upcoming NCAP traffic scenarios.

Your Responsibilities

  • Gathering traffic scenarios from NCAP documents

  • Analyze existing software packages to model traffic scenarios

  • Model traffic scenarios in commercially available model or own developed model

  • Program a simplified behavioral model of the radar

  • Analyze and simulate the required field of view of the radar to detect road users in time.

  • Document results and present to the architecture team

Your Profile

  • Bachelor of Science - last year of engineer school,

  • Good level of English is required (attendance to meetings / presentations with international team, reading and writing of documentation)

  • Signal processing background, mechanics background (vehicle models)

Duration

This is a full-time internship (40 hours per week) with a duration of 3 to 6 months. Please note that in order to be considered for an internship/working student assignment, you need to be registered as a student during the entire period.
