The Principal Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer is part of the NXP Netherlands EHS team, providing expertise, guidance and operational support to the NXP fab Operations in Nijmegen (ICN8). Additional scope of work includes to provide technical guidance/support to other NXP sites in the Netherlands and the Global EHS teams including the NXP sites in US and Asia. Examples of work tasks / responsibilities where candidate will assist are below:
Provide operational support to NXP ICN site by defining, implementing, and enforcing NXP site and corporate EHS policies and procedures in sync with Dutch government environment, health & safety guidelines to ensure a safe and healthy work environment across all sites in NXP Netherlands.
Be a subject matter expert within EHS and to support NXP Netherlands and other Global Operation Sites of NXP. Provide expertise on subject matters such as chemical management, REACH, Seveso and emerging topics such as PFAS.
As a senior member of the NXP EHS team, use personal skills, technical knowledge and expertise to interact with NXP Global EHS team to provide assistance in finding solutions to global/local EHS challenges.
Work closely with ICN8 EHS Site Manager, to shadow and step in as acting site EHS lead when needed. Also work with other NXP EHS Managers so that the role of acting as ICN8 EHS lead is more effective when needed.
Defines, maintains, implements and reviews the EHS Management Systems documents and procedures (EHS MS, including Seveso MS) according to Corporate guidance, legal requirements and ISO standards. Develops Global EHS standards
Collaborates and maintain effective partnerships with Management at ICN8, organizations in Nijmegen, Eindhoven and Delft, and Global/Site EHS teams to achieve EHS goals. Involves stakeholders and drive projects and actions until successful implementation.
Develops and drives high quality, state of art standards in risk assessment, safety studies and incident investigation and analysis. Actively participate within the ICN leadership team related to reducing business resiliency risks within NXP-Netherlands.
Interacts with external entities and authorities, on EHS regulatory issues, including permits and reporting requirements such as the Seveso Safety Report (VR), environmental reporting and CSRD reporting. Collects and manages EHS related data to comply to these reporting requirements.
Represents NXP in external and non-governmental national and international industrial associations, consortia and committees as a subject matter expert within EHS.
Your Profile
Experience in a relevant EHS field, in a complex (Seveso) chemical/industrial environment, with 8+ years of experience working with other professionals in and outside the EHS field
Master's or bachelor's degree (HBO/WO) in a technical or related field (Chemical Engineering, Process Technology, Safety, Environmental Engineering or Industrial Hygiene)
Excellent knowledge of relevant Legislation national, EU (e.g. REACH) and international (e.g. GHS) and standards (e.g. ISO 14001 & 45001)
Able to work independently and collaboratively across various functional groups, NXP organizations and (Global) sites. Take initiative and show ownership (with a hands-on approach).
Experience in interacting with Dutch and international external entities, authorities and government officials
Show an ability to garner a good working understanding of Fab tools, process chemical use methods, process effluent & byproducts and eventually the semiconductor manufacturing process.
Able to take complex EHS issues/challenges and be able to condense down and succinctly present during multi-cultural settings and executive management briefings
Ability to understand the inter-workings of internal NXP site, the key business units, corporate procedures and leadership of NXP ICN8, Netherlands and Global.
Possess good Leadership skills and able to engage, convince and motivate people, at all levels and cultures
Good written and verbal skills in both Dutch and English languages.
Ability to work well with NXP IT work platforms and work streams such as SharePoint, Workday, Teams, Microsoft Office suite and other systems.

Contract: This is a full-time position with a permanent contract. However, we are open to discuss a part-time opportunity (between 32 and 38 hours) as well.
