We're looking for a Programme Manager to lead ambitious R&D and subsidized projects that push the boundaries of innovation. In this role, you'll not only manage complex, multidisciplinary initiatives but also work closely with your colleagues to further develop and refine our internal project management systems. Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement project management processes within the organization and train relevant staff on these processes.
  • Plan and manage research, development, and manufacturing projects. These typically last between one and five years and include contributions from multiple technical domain experts and external partners.
  • Maintain project risk registers and ensure that all risks are treated appropriately.
  • Identify and resolve resource conflicts in consultation with heads of department and the executive.
  • Maintain project journals that record key decisions and factors that affect the project scope, deliverables, timescale, and risk.
  • Conduct project retrospectives and update processes to reflect lessons learned.
  • Maintain the project dashboard and project-related aspects of the balanced scorecard and generate monthly reports on project progress and risks.
  • Facilitate the flow of information within the organization to ensure that work is performed efficiently in accordance with project requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in engineering, photonics, physics or another technical subject relevant to our business or equivalent; and
  • Project management certifications (e.g. Six Sigma or Lean certifications, Certified ScrumMaster, PMI-ACP), or equivalent; and
  • 5-10+ years experience with both agile and traditional project management.
  • Managed interdisciplinary and distributed deep-tech R&D project teams with 20+ employees and budgets of 5M+,
  • Proven track record of managing complex, cross-functional projects.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with academics, engineers, executives, and customers and to motivate staff to achieve demanding objectives while fostering morale and teamwork.
  • Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks proactively.
  • Excellent written and spoken English. The ability to speak, read, and write Dutch and/or German would be an advantage.
  • The ability to mentor technical personnel in project management skills

Location

The position is in Enschede or Ulm. Hybrid working may be possible as approved by your manager and depending on your ability to effectively execute your function remotely, but you will be expected to be on-site at least two days per week.
