Job description

Are you passionate about high-tech and precision work? Do you have a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of semiconductor processes? At SMART Photonics, we’re looking for a motivated Test & measurement Technician to strengthen our Test Operations team.

About the Role

As a Test Technician at SMART Photonics, you’ll be working in a cutting-edge photonics foundry, independently operating complex test equipment for wafer, bar, and die level testing. Your day-to-day will involve a variety of testing scenarios, from routine tasks to more complex and less frequent operations—including work with non-standard wafers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently operate complex test equipment based on detailed work instructions and safety procedures.

  • Execute both regular and advanced test operations, including reworks and non-standard wafer tests.

  • Identify and report deviations or equipment incidents according to our escalation procedures (OCAPs).

  • Provide feedback on test deviations to senior technicians or engineers.

  • Perform visual inspections and support SPC (Statistical Process Control) data collection.

  • Analyze technical imperfections and suggest process improvements.

  • Drive continuous quality improvements and participate in process documentation and optimization.

  • Collaborate closely with internal engineers to align on quality standards.

  • Support special tasks such as 8D measurements and interact with Wafer Operations to ensure smooth batch processing.

Qualifications

  • MBO / bachelor’s degree in a technical direction (e.g., Electronics, Mechatronics, Applied Physics, or similar).

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in semiconductor processing or test environments.

  • Familiarity with SPC, 8D problem-solving, FMEA, IPs, and cleanroom protocols.

  • Strong sense of ownership and attention to detail.

  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a high-tech, cleanroom environment.

  • For this role, the candidate will work in a 2-shift schedule, 5 days per week.

  • Located in commuting distance from our office in Eindhoven (NL) – our relocation service is NOT included

Why SMART Photonics?

At SMART Photonics, we’re building the future of photonic chip manufacturing—right in the heart of the Brainport region. You’ll be joining a diverse and growing team at the forefront of innovation, with plenty of opportunities to grow and make an impact.
