Intern - Mechatronic Engineer
Spectrik
About Us
At Spectrik, we are developing cutting-edge gas sensors based on Chirped Laser Dispersion Spectroscopy. Our mission is to transform industries such as agriculture, process control, and energy recovery with scalable, robust, and affordable sensing solutions. We are a fast-moving start-up, combining photonics, mechatronics, and embedded systems into integrated industrial products.
The Role
We are looking for a highly motivated Mechatronics / Optomechatronics Intern (HBO/WO) to support the development of our next-generation gas sensing platform. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary R&D team (photonics, mechanical design, embedded software, electronics) to translate complex optical and mechanical requirements into working prototypes.
What You Will Do
- Assist in the design, prototyping, and testing of optomechatronic assemblies (flow cells, optical mounts, mechanical housings).
- Support integration of photonic modules into robust mechanical structures with focus on vibration stability, alignment tolerance, and manufacturability.
- Perform 3D CAD modelling and basic simulations (thermal, mechanical stress, flow).
- Contribute to assembly, alignment, and test procedures for optical and mechanical sub-systems.
- Work on rapid prototyping tasks (3D printing, machining, assembly) to validate design choices.
- Collaborate with engineers to improve system reliability, robustness, and cost-effectiveness.
What We Are Looking For
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Strong interest in optomechatronics and multidisciplinary system design.
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo).
- Hands-on mindset with affinity for prototyping and experimental validation.
- Basic knowledge of optics, lasers, or precision mechanics is a strong plus.
- Independent, proactive, and eager to learn in a start-up environment.
What We Offer
- A dynamic and entrepreneurial environment where your contribution has a direct impact.
- Opportunity to work on real-world hardware prototypes in a deep-tech start-up.
- Close collaboration with experts in photonics, electronics, and system engineering.
- Flexibility in internship duration (4–6 months, start date negotiable).
