About the Photonics Lab & Test Technician role

As our Photonics Lab & Test Technician, you will play a pivotal role in bringing our photonics products from conception to market. You will primarily focus on testing our bare die and packaged photonic chips and final assembled laser products, supporting both R&D and product manufacturing. The Photonics Lab & Test Technician ensures test results are reliable and repeatable. You will be part of the product development team, where test priorities, test methods, and test results will be reviewed and discussed. Depending on experience and interest the role can expand into designing/improving test setups, designing application demonstrators for technical and product demonstrators, and taking ownership of the optical lab in general. About the Photonics Lab & Test Technician role

As a Photonics Lab & Test Technician, you will work at the heart of our lab operations, testing, validating, and demonstrating our photonic chips and systems. In this role you will report to the Engineering Manager.

Execute optical measurements to evaluate bare die, packaged dies and final device performance
Bring a hands-on, can-do attitude: you enjoy getting your hands ‘dirty’ in the lab
Collaborate within the development team to develop and execute test plans, prioritize within test backlogs, and discuss test results
Co-develop and operate proof-of-concept (PoC) and demo setups for internal and external application validation projects
Take ownership of lab organization, equipment maintenance, and safety procedures
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance test and measurement processes
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation including work instructions, process specifications, and quality standards for test projects

What we are looking for

HBO bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field such as Applied Physics, Photonics, Electrical Engineering, or similar
Hands-on experience in an optical lab, familiarity with electro optical components and lab instrumentation (e.g., spectrometers, power meters, alignment stages)
Comfortable with setting up and debugging optical experiments
Independent, structured, and safety-minded in the lab
Experience with integrated photonic devices and/or optical sensing products
Comfortable to work in a fast-paced environment
Positive, can-do attitude
Bonus: experience with data analysis (Python, MATLAB)
The job requires that the candidate lives in or close to Enschede, The Netherlands
This role requires a 5 day office/lab presence
For this role, SuperLight Photonics can only hire candidates who already have valid permission to work in the Netherlands (e.g. EU or Swiss citizens or having an existing Dutch work permit).
